Live permit intelligence

Every job in your city that has a permit — and nobody in your trade attached.

Contractors read permit filings one at a time and miss the ones that matter. BidWitness reads every filing in your metro, finds the jobs where your trade slot is still empty, and emails you the shortlist every Monday.

Everyone else sells you the haystack.

Permit data has been for sale for twenty years. It's sold as raw records — thousands of rows a week, and the contractor is left to read them. That's not a lead list, that's homework.

The permit for 1331 S WELLS ST is a $94,000,000 job. The filing names the owner, the architect, the expeditor, the general contractor and the mason. It does not name an electrician, a plumber, a roofer, a carpenter, an HVAC contractor or an excavator.
That is six open trade slots on one job — and it was published months ago, for free, where anyone could have found it.

How it works

Three steps. You only see step three.

01

We read every filing

The city publishes permits daily. We pull all of them, every day, across every covered metro — new construction, alterations, demolitions.

02

We find the empty slot

Each filing lists the trades already attached. We compare that against the trades a job of that type needs, and flag the ones nobody has claimed.

03

You get a shortlist

Monday morning: the jobs in your city, in your trade, above your floor — scored by size, freshness and how many trades are still open.

Pricing

Priced against the job, not against other software. One foundation job pays for a decade.

Straight answers

Is this just public data repackaged?

Yes — and that's the point. Every permit is public. What isn't public is the answer to "which of these 2,600 filings this week has my trade slot still open." That answer is the product. You're paying for the reading, not the records.

What if my trade is already listed on most jobs?

Then we filter those out, which is the entire value. You only receive jobs where your trade is genuinely absent from the filing. If a market turns out to have no open slots, we tell you before you pay — and don't take the subscription.

How current is it?

City feeds publish daily. The Monday brief covers filings from the previous seven days, with anything older clearly dated so you know what you're walking into.

Can I get my money back?

First brief is free. After that, cancel any time and the current month is refunded if you tell us within seven days that the leads weren't relevant.

Do you sell the same list to my competitor?

No. One trade, one metro, one subscriber. If a slot is taken, the listing closes.
